In the 1990s Brian and a team of fellow cosmologists made a startling discovery: the Universe is not just expanding — it's accelerating! To make sense of this odd phenomenon physicists had to invent a new kind of stuff permeating all of space, known as Dark Energy, the true nature of which still eludes us today.

In this talk, Brian explains the work leading up to the discovery, give an insider view of what it's like to win a Nobel Prize, and takes us on a tour of a few possible fates of the Universe.
